How is it going with the kids on holidays? Activities planned out? Or just going by the day? Remember: do it as it suits your family, no pressure, don’t feel too bothered about what you are not doing.


Keep in mind however that it is very important for you to get ‘closer’ to your boarding house kids. Truth is: you really don’t know these kids in depth because they stay with you for about 4months only or a little more out of the year.


Study their development, LISTEN to them, ask questions, spend time to reiterate your family values, GO OUT WITH THEM ALONE. These will help you learn what/how they are growing. Boarding house could be the best or the worst thing ever. Your input in your kid’s life makes a lot of difference


Remember: don’t overwhelm them with lesson teachers or summer activities. Allow time for independent play/activities.....that’s what holidays are for! Relax, they won’t become dullards just because of playing during holidays


A great summer school/activities shouldn’t span entire week except you need child care services while away at work. Create more one on one memories with them as a family.
